mind map
statement of intent
This project is about getting a variety of different photographs from different environments. To contrast and compare the differences and similarities of what makes the collection of photos special.
My initial research is to look into themes that show the best scenery's which are completely opposite of each other. Seascapes and urban landscapes. At the the moment, I have a few in mind. Wales is full of beautiful beaches and mountains where I can really show my creative side and explore different viewpoints, compositions, exposures and rule of thirds. Also different surfaces such as rocks, sand and grass. There could also be an amazing opportunity to do light graffiti after sunset by using low shutter speeds. All of this will create an assortment of varying photos from this trip to wales.
On the other hand, London shows a completely different side of landscape photography. Urban landscapes are full of city buildings, streets and different community's. I can approach this opportunity in many different ways. I can use close ups, vanishing points, rule of thirds, birds eye view and other viewpoints.
My progression can be shown through the different style of photos which can correlate my landscape photographs. Also through analysis of which pictures I like the most and why. This will help me link my photographs to my artist research. Photoshop will again enlarge my collection to another level. Researching different photographers should help influence my images to take it to the next level.

For me personally, this is my favorite photograph taken by this artist. The colour contrast along with the composition makes this photo look majestic. The sky as well as the mountain and trees captures this photos natural beauty. The composition gives the photo a vanishing point near the back of the photo, This creates an effect which captures the viewers eye.
This photograph has been taken on a large depth of field. In addition, the exposure is perfect. It isn't too dark yet it isn't too bright a the same time. The mountains perfectly hit the rule of thirds which takes this picture to another dimension.
Overall, I believe that I can take some inspiration from his photos so I can implement some of his great ideas into my photos. This would vastly improve my photography as well as improve my awareness for great shoots.

This photography taken by Adam Burton is absolutely stunning. The use of different colours in this picture makes it look beautiful. The sunset is placed on the power spot of the image, this composition perfectly uses the rule of thirds to add a factor of brilliance to this image. This photo was taken on a high shutter speed and a on a high depth of field.
The composition adds a vanishing point right where the sunset it. This is to add an effect that makes the photo look like it's fading away at the corner of the image.
His photoshop skills are brilliant as well, The reflective sky on the surface of the sand Is the main focus of the photograph. The way it is set at the front of the photo makes the image stand out to the viewer.
Finally, I think I can take some good ideas from this photographer. His use of composition, editing, angles, and scenery can inspire my landscape photography. Also the use of colours can make my photos add a variety of different filters and contrasts. This is something Adam Burton does really well.

What I really like about his photo Is the attention to detail. The angle is perfect to capture the beauty of the rocks and the water. This picture was taken on a shallow depth of field and the exposure Is perfect. Using a small depth of field enables the photographer to look for close up details of the water and rocks.
he uses lots of different angles to take pictures and his photos always seem to have the right colours to match the mood and scene which is an amazing thing. This also links into my photography of the the time we spent in anglesey, I took quite a few pictures of rocks and similar surfaces. This photo captures the natural beauty of this river. The way he has taken this picture almost feels like we're near that rock because of the slight birds eye view.
when taking close up photography, I can really take ideas from Joe. He sets the mood of every picture which is a wonderful skills to have.

day 1 of anlesey
On the first day of the trip, we went to the local beach to capture the beauty of wales. We took a variety of different pictures which included ones of rocks, water, sand and other objects which laid on the beach. I had many different ideas on how I took my photographs. Here are all my pictures from the first day.
worst photo
This was the worst photo I took on the first day of Anglesey. The positioning of the camera was really poor because it didn't capture anything interesting. I took the picture on a slow shutter speed which made the photo look blurry. Also the focus on the camera was off because it was out of focus. The ISO was set really high so it made the picture look really dull.
Overall I believe this photo was bad because nothing in it actually was interesting. It was quite boring as it was a miss taken shot.

Best Photo
This is the best picture I took on the first day of the Anglesey trip. What I really like about this picture is the composition. I used the powerspot from the rule of thirds to take this picture. It was also taken on a large depth of field and on a low aperture. The photo's exposure is also quite clear because It Isn't too dark or too bright.
When I took this photo, I attempted to capture the waves hitting the large rocks. I think I can make this photo better by using photoshop to slightly add more colour. My aim is to make this photo more brighter and colourful because the sky looks really glum. This is because on this day it was cloudy and dull.
There are many different views in Anglesey and london. One is all about the urban life. On the other hand, one is all about the natural beauty of the local scenery.

day 2 of anglesey
worst photo
I absolutely don't like this photograph because the lighting was accidentally way too bright. This photo is over exposed due to the ISO being set too high. This completely ruined this photo as it had potential to be one of my best photos on the day.
Further more, The shutter speed was slightly too slow as the picture looks somewhat blurry. My hands also weren't steady enough to match the slowness of the shutter speed.

This was the best photograph I took on the second day of the trip. What I like most about the picture is the composition. The gigantic rock is placed on the power-spot

london
I am going to london in the summer, whereas we went to Anglesey in the winter. In London I am going to focus my images on skylines and architectures. This will contrast between the busy city life and nature. The images I hope to capture are of buildings, streets, structures and culture. I am going to experiment with different compositions, viewpoints, depth of fields and shutter speed.
I plan on doing this by visiting the Tate Modern, River Thames and Saint Paul Cathedral. We have chosen these locations because it defines the culture of London. These areas express creativity in a special way. They're perfect for capturing amazing photographs because of the views and sights.

berenice abott
I am researching the work of Berenice Abbott. I am interested in this photographer because the black and white colour contrast goes really well with city architecture. The photographers work links to mine because our photographs have similar viewpoints and compositions.
What I like about his work is that it is simple yet effective. The black and white filter sets the mood of the photograph by making the viewers feel calm and warm. I am going to use his work to inspire mine by mirroring his mastery of the black and white filter. I am going to do this by experimenting on photoshop with different filters and colours. To try create a masterpiece following the idea of Berenice Abott.

why i like this photo?
Personally, I feel this photo really portrays the art of viewpoints and framing. This photo holds a great amount of class because of its professionalism. The black and white theme elevates the original photo by producing a style of elegance with the pictures simplicity. The use of rule of thirds adds depth to the image by giving the photo a focus point on the tower. The background also prospers with its overwhelming amount of beautiful architecture. Furthermore, the water gives more body to the photo by giving the image a sense of nature. Using a birds eye view allows the photograph to have a unique perspective on the streets of London.

thoughts/views on the image
What I really like about this picture is the black and white theme. I feel that I have portrayed this image perfectly in the style of Berenice Abott. The surrounding buildings around the shard portrays its dominance due to its humongous size. Using the rule of thirds gives the structure more attention by making it standout. overall, I believe this picture thrives because of its precise layout

Manchester
I plan on going town In Manchester to capture mesmerizing photos of architecture. The buildings and structures in Manchester are really special, theres nothing like it. It is truly unique in its own beautiful way. The shots I want to acquire are of different viewpoints and compositions.
The theme I want to carry on using is black and white. I believe that this filter is the best for buildings as it expresses a new kind of emotion. It completely changes the mood of a photo by making it seem darker and more meaningful. I personally enjoy this method as it stands out more to me in certain settings like urban cities.

evaluation
The theme of my project was to capture landscape photographs of Urban cities and seascape locations. Both these areas thrive in different ways, my mission was to find the different components that makes these settings unique. I tried to make my photos reflect the true beauty of nature in wales which contrasts with the beauty of architecture and structure in London. Personally, I loved this project because It gave me an opportunity to witness gorgeous scenery across the UK.
During this wonderful experience, I obtained many new valuable techniques such as using the rule of thirds to bring my photos to the next level. I took this opportunity to find the best angles and focus points to make my photos much more professional. I feel that these skills I derived has been pinnacle to my success in this project. I have portrayed the black and white theme continuously throughout this project, I believe this style of photography enhances the thoughts and feelings for the viewer. I have tried to carve my journey by adding meaning and a sense of passion to my photos, to reflect my emotions onto my work to make it special. I truly fell in love with this project during my short but efficient time I spent in London. I had found my feet on this adventure, this is where my plan became a reality. I had a clear vision of which path I wanted to pursue, this widened my perspective on the different options that disembarked upon me.
One man that inspired me enormously was Bernice Abott. His use of the black and white filter has aided me numerously throughout my prolonged assignment. Not only that but his perfect eye for immaculate photographs is truly something incredible. His talent has made me look up to him very deeply.
Overall, I believe that this project has given me the chance to prosper as a young photographer.
